Every so often, my husband and I find ourselves in a rut. With the kids in a million activities, work, and just trying to keep up with the house, finding ourselves in that rut is becoming all too common. But, every now and then, nature gets right up in our faces and says, “Okay, I’ll come to you for your much needed reminder how much you need and miss me.” The image I have included with this post is the perfect example. This was the scene in our yard at the moment I most needed the reminder.

What is it about immersing ourselves in God’s great creation that brings us peace? I think that God, in his infinite wisdom, knew we would need grounding. We would need a break. We would need tranquility. And one of his most blessed gifts to us is His creation all around us. We just need to take it upon ourselves to, not only receive this gift, but to give Him thanks while we are in its midst.

I think we sometime take for granted the need our children have for this outlet as well. Our own lives are so hectic with so many responsibilities that we forget that our kids, too, have crazy-busy lives. Crazier than we ever did. The difference between us and them is that we are better able to recognize and initiate when a break from the grind is needed. So, it is incumbent upon us to bring them to this gift. And when doing so, to remind them to be grateful and give all glory and thanks to Our Father and say His prayer a little more often, too. For the world is full of proof.
